Root Canal Treatment

Safe and Comfortable Root Canal Treatment

The goal of endodontic, or root canal, therapy is to save a tooth that would otherwise need to be extracted because its pulp cavity—the area that contains blood vessels and nerves in the center of a tooth—has been compromised. Whether it has fallen victim to damage or decay, the only way to save the tooth and stop the pain is with root canal therapy.

At Creekside Dental Design, Dr. Nguyen uses the safest system available to ensure effective and complication-free root canal therapy—and she can often do it all in just one visit!

What Is Root Canal Therapy?

During root canal therapy (often referred to simply as a “root canal”), the pulp of the tooth is removed, and the inner walls are cleaned to remove any possibility of lingering infected tissue. The tooth is then filled and sealed with a dental crown to restore it to its original function.

One-Visit Root Canal Therapy

Dr. Nguyen and our staff understand the apprehension patients typically have about root canal treatment; that’s why we work hard to alleviate their fears with safe, quick and comfortable care, and why we strive to complete all steps of the process in just one appointment.

On the day of treatment, she will start by numbing you with a local topical anesthetic, which can be combined with nitrous oxide to reduce anxiety. Once you have been comfortably numbed, Dr. Nguyen will use a flexible, engine-driven rotary file to clean the inside of your tooth. This treatment is much quieter and smoother than with a traditional rigid file, and it’s much more comfortable for the patient as well. Dr. Nguyen also uses a device that provides real-time depth readings for precision treatment. As a result, recovery is fast, and patients typically report little to no postoperative pain or symptoms
